The Kinderweihnacht (Children's Christmas) at Hans-Sachs-Platz in Nuremberg offers a magical Christmas experience specifically designed for young visitors and families. Since 1999, this enchanting market has been a beloved part of Nuremberg's Christmas City celebrations, creating a miniature world straight out of a storybook. Located adjacent to the famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, the Kinderweihnacht features a nostalgic two-tiered carousel, a mini Ferris wheel, and a charming steam-powered train that delights children of all ages. The market's true magic lies in its interactive hands-on booths where children can actively participate in Christmas traditions. Young visitors can bake gingerbread cookies shaped like shooting stars, teddy bears, and hearts, decorating them with almonds, nuts, and colorful sprinkles. Other creative stations include candle-making, glass painting, and a special children's post office where kids can write and mail their Christmas wish lists to the Christkind. From December 5-22, the Nuremberg Christkind herself makes special appearances Tuesday through Friday at 2:30 pm, inviting children for free carousel rides and personally receiving their wish lists.
