The Rüdesheimer Weihnachtsmarkt der Nationen — Christmas Market of Nations — is one of Germany's most internationally diverse holiday markets, bringing together more than 20 nations from four continents in the heart of the scenic Rhine Valley. Celebrating over 30 years of tradition, this market transforms Rüdesheim am Rhein's historic Altstadt into a festive world bazaar unlike any other Christmas market in the region. The market winds through the entire old town, beginning at the Marktplatz with its traditional nativity scene, continuing along the Marktstraße and Oberstraße, threading through the world-famous Drosselgasse, and stretching along the Rheinstraße. With more than 100 festively decorated stalls, visitors encounter artisans and vendors from across Europe and overseas, many crafting their goods on-site. Expect to find Bunzlauer Keramik from Poland, handcrafted cashmere and yak-wool goods from Mongolia, hand-carved wooden figures, candles, Schwibbögen (arched candle holders), pewter casting, puppetry, glass engravings, and nativity scenes. Local and regional food stalls serve festive specialties alongside the beloved Rüdesheimer Glühwein, served in the market's annual collectible mug — a sought-after souvenir that draws repeat visitors year after year. A daily changing program of live entertainment and cultural performances adds to the lively atmosphere, and the traditional St. Thomas Night parade on December 20th is a highlight of the season. The market is open Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 11:00–20:00, and Friday through Saturday from 11:00–21:00. Arrive by train or Rhine ferry to fully enjoy the festive ambiance without worrying about parking.
