Officially branded as 'Montpellier fête Noël,' this flagship Christmas market transforms one of the city's most scenic promenades into a festive village of over 90 wooden chalets, where local artisans, craftspeople, and food producers gather to showcase the best of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Visitors can browse stalls offering handcrafted jewelry, regional textiles, artisanal soaps, and beautifully packaged sweets, while food lovers will find an impressive spread of regional specialties — from locally produced wines and oysters to vin chaud, roasted chestnuts, crêpes, and raclette. A large heated convivial tent serves as the social heart of the market, hosting weekly tastings of local wines, craft beers, and artisan products alongside live music, jazz evenings, DJ sets, and themed nights running throughout December. Families are especially well catered for: Santa visits every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday for photos, a dedicated Santa's Mailbox invites children to send their wish lists, and a packed schedule of creative workshops, storytelling performances, wooden games, and yoga sessions keeps all ages entertained.
