Marché de Noël de Riquewihr

Nestled in the heart of one of Alsace's most perfectly preserved medieval villages, the Marché de Noël de Riquewihr transforms the 'Pearl of the Alsatian Vineyard' into a glittering winter wonderland each Advent season. Spread across the Esplanade des Remparts and the historic squares of the old town, the market draws visitors into a fairytale setting where centuries-old half-timbered facades are draped in sparkling lights and festive ornaments replace the summer flower boxes. Strolling between the wooden chalets, visitors discover a rich selection of traditional Alsatian crafts alongside seasonal treats that fill the cobblestone streets with irresistible aromas. Classic bredele shortbread cookies, spiced gingerbread, warm bretzels, and roasted chestnuts are among the beloved specialties on offer, all best enjoyed with a steaming cup of mulled wine. Beyond the main market, two smaller markets tucked into private courtyards at the upper end of the village reward those who explore further. The Riquewihr Christmas market is free to enter and runs Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 18:30, with extended hours on weekends (10:00–19:00) and on the opening Friday until 20:00. A dedicated Christmas Shuttle departs from Colmar station on Fridays and weekends, making car-free visits easy and stress-free. A park-and-ride service at the Naturoparc in nearby Hunawihr also operates on weekends, with shuttles running every 30 minutes.
