The Baden-Baden Christkindelsmarkt is one of Germany's most distinctive Christmas markets, set in the picturesque Kurgarten directly in front of the magnificent, festively illuminated Kurhaus — a UNESCO World Heritage landmark that lends the market an unmatched architectural backdrop. Framed by the mountains of the Black Forest, this traditional market has welcomed visitors since 1971 and runs unusually late through January 6 (Epiphany), giving travelers a rare opportunity to experience authentic German Christmas atmosphere well into the new year. Stretching from the Fieserbrücke bridge to the Trinkhalle, the market features a carefully curated mix of artisan stalls selling handcrafted gifts, Christmas decorations, jewelry, clothing, and regional specialties. Culinary highlights include award-winning mulled wines judged annually by renowned sommelier Natalie Lumpp, alongside roasted chestnuts, Flammkuchen, wild boar goulash, and classic Bratwurst. For a more upscale experience, exclusive gourmet igloos offer intimate dining sessions with fondue and a champagne-meets-caviar option. Families will find plenty to enjoy, including a historic children's carousel, a mini Ferris wheel, a children's railway, a Christmas baking workshop, and a new Bambini Rally activity. The Trinkhalle hosts a nativity scene exhibition featuring 28 handcrafted nativity scenes from around the world, scannable via QR codes. Live performances take place on the Sky Stage throughout the season. A guided Christmas city tour combining market highlights with local history is available for €21 per person. The market is open daily from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with adjusted hours on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and Epiphany.
