The Royal Christmas Fair transforms The Hague's elegant Lange Voorhout avenue into a festive wonderland each December, drawing visitors to one of the Netherlands' most celebrated Christmas markets. Set against a backdrop of historic landmarks — including the Binnenhof, Noordeinde Palace, and charming embassies — this 21-day market offers a uniquely royal atmosphere unlike any other holiday event in the country. The market features dozens of beautifully crafted wooden Christmas chalets draped in thousands of twinkling LED lights, with crackling open fires warming the air as the scent of mulled wine drifts through the avenue. Three themed bars — Bar Berlijn, Bar Düsseldorf, and Bar München — each offer their own distinct après-ski ambiance, while the Royal Christmas House serves as the beating heart of the event, hosting lunches, walking dinners, and private gatherings in a warmly decorated, covered setting. A dedicated Royal Christmas Stage hosts daily musical performances, Christmas choirs, magicians, and lively dweilkorps (street bands), and Santa Claus makes an appearance almost every day. Children are well catered for with storytellers, craft activities, and interactive entertainment throughout the run. Local entrepreneurs showcase unique products through the Haagse Schatten platform, offering handcrafted gifts, artisanal Christmas hampers, and regional specialties. The iconic red London double-decker Royal Christmas Bus serves as the information hub at the center of the market. Entry is completely free, and dogs are welcome.
