Julemarked Røros

Set in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Røros, the Julemarked Røros Christmas Market transforms the historic Bergmannsgata and its surrounding courtyards into a breathtaking winter wonderland each December. Now in its sixteenth year, this beloved Norwegian tradition draws visitors into a landscape of colorful centuries-old wooden houses dusted with snow, where the magical blue hour casts an otherworldly glow over the entire town — most famously along the photogenic Sleggveien street. Spread across multiple historic venues including Sangerhuset, Kurantgården, Sundrønningsgården, Rasmusgården, and the open-air Snow Stage (Snøscena), the market hosts dozens of wooden stalls offering locally produced food, artisan handicrafts, and regional specialties. Visitors can warm up with gløgg — the Scandinavian take on mulled wine — paired with freshly baked gingerbread, or sample rice porridge and traditional Røroshakk at the nostalgic Thomasgården café.
