The Bucharest Christmas Market transforms Constitution Square into Romania's largest festive celebration, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Palace of Parliament. Now in its 17th edition, this internationally recognized market features approximately 130 wooden cottages offering traditional Romanian crafts, handmade gifts, and authentic culinary delights. The centerpiece is a spectacular 30-meter Christmas tree, complemented by Santa's House where children can write letters and meet Santa himself. Families enjoy carnival attractions including a carousel, panoramic Ferris wheel, and a festive train ride. The market showcases Romania's rich cultural heritage through daily live performances, from traditional carol singers and folk ensembles to contemporary artists and DJ sets. Two distinct zones offer different experiences: the Traditional Zone features authentic Romanian performances and folklore, while the Urban Zone provides modern entertainment and international acts. Visitors can warm up with mulled wine (vin fiert) and sample traditional dishes like sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls), cozonac (sweet bread), and kürtőskalács (chimney cake). The market operates daily with extended hours on weekends, creating a magical atmosphere enhanced by festive lighting and animated mascots. Arrive early on weekends to avoid crowds and enjoy the best selection of handcrafted items.
