Noël des Alpes (Christmas in the Alps) is Annecy's flagship winter celebration, transforming the entire city center into an enchanting Alpine wonderland each holiday season. Drawing over 500,000 visitors annually, this expansive Christmas market is one of France's most beloved festive events, set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Annecy and snow-capped mountains. More than 160 decorated chalets stretch from the Lac district all the way to the Jardins de l'Europe, creating a festive promenade through some of Annecy's most picturesque neighborhoods. The market has been thoughtfully revamped in recent years, blending authentic Alpine tradition with fresh, innovative concepts. This year, the open-air ice-skating rink and main festive area are positioned right by the lake in the Jardins de l'Europe — an exceptional lakeside setting for families and friends to share unforgettable moments. Santa Claus welcomes children at the Place de l'Ancienne Grenette, adding a magical touch for younger visitors. Beyond the market stalls, Noël des Alpes offers a rich cultural program including magical themed walks, live musical entertainment, and creative workshops for all ages. Dazzling illuminations and sound-and-light projections on Annecy's historic buildings extend the festive atmosphere well into the evening. Vendors offer regional Alpine specialties — from Savoyard cheeses and tartiflette to gingerbread and nougat — alongside handcrafted gifts and artisan goods.
