Les Fééries de Noël - Place Darcy and Rue de la Liberté

Les Fééries de Noël transforms Dijon's historic city center into a sprawling winter wonderland, stretching from Place Darcy along the pedestrian Rue de la Liberté and beyond. This beloved Christmas festival is one of Burgundy's most cherished seasonal traditions, weaving together artisan markets, festive entertainment, and local culture across multiple iconic squares in the heart of the city. At the core of the Christmas market experience, roughly 40 wooden chalets line Place Darcy and Rue de la Liberté, offering a rich mix of traditional treats and handcrafted goods. Local artisans supported by the Chamber of Trades and the CréArts association showcase their work alongside a dedicated solidarity chalet spotlighting local nonprofit organizations. A charming little train carousel surrounded by enchanted décor delights younger visitors, while Santa's House provides a magical meeting point for families. The festivities extend well beyond the market itself. Place de la République hosts a towering 40-meter Ferris wheel and a 600 m² outdoor ice skating rink encircling the Sadi Carnot statue, with themed evening events every Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m. Place de la Libération features a giant Christmas tree, a double-decker carousel, and food chalets, while a spectacular sound-and-light show illuminates the façades of the Hôtel de Ville nightly from December 19 to 29. The festival culminates on Christmas Eve with the beloved tradition of Santa descending from the Tour Philippe le Bon tower. The market is free to enter and easily accessible by tram (lines T1/T2, Darcy and République stops), making it an ideal full-afternoon or evening outing for families and couples alike.
