Experience Les Fééries de Noël - Place de la République

Les Fééries de Noël transforms Place de la République in Dijon into a spectacular winter wonderland, anchoring the city's beloved Christmas festival with two of its most dramatic attractions. Towering 40 meters above the square, the iconic Ferris wheel offers breathtaking panoramic views of Dijon's illuminated rooftops and historic streets — a sight unlike any other Christmas market experience in Burgundy. At the heart of the square, a 600 m² outdoor ice skating rink winds around the Sadi Carnot statue, creating a uniquely picturesque setting for skaters of all ages. The rink comes alive on Friday and Saturday evenings with themed festive nights running until 10pm — past events have included a fluo night, bubble storm, American Christmas, Polaroid animation evenings, and a New Year's black-and-white party. Four food chalets ring the square, serving classic winter treats including churros, crêpes, gaufres (waffles), vin chaud (mulled wine), hot chocolate, and confiseries. Place de la République is just one hub of Dijon's wider Christmas festival, which spans the city from late November through early January. The broader Fééries de Noël program includes a traditional Christmas market along Place Darcy and Rue de la Liberté, a double-decker carousel at Place de la Libération, a giant 18-meter Christmas tree, a Santa Claus house, and a spectacular nightly sound-and-light show projected onto the façade of the Hôtel de Ville from December 19 onward. Plan your visit on a Friday or Saturday evening to catch one of the themed skating nights and soak up the full festive atmosphere at Place de la République.
