Experience Marché de Noël de Sarlat

Nestled in the heart of one of France's best-preserved medieval towns, the Sarlat Christmas Market transforms Place de la Grande Rigaudie and Place du 14 Juillet into a glittering winter wonderland each December. Now in its 19th edition, the market is celebrated for its annual themed destination of honor — in 2025, the French Overseas Territories take center stage, bringing the vibrant colors, rhythms, and flavors of Tahiti, the French Antilles, and Réunion to the cobblestone streets of Périgord Noir. Around 70 illuminated chalets line the squares daily from 10 am to 8 pm (until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays), offering a rich mix of artisan crafts, regional Périgord specialties, handmade jewelry, scented candles, and unique gift ideas. The Place Gourmande — a dedicated gourmet square — stays open until 11 pm on weekends and throughout school holidays, serving local delicacies alongside themed Overseas Territory cuisine. Two fully covered ice rinks cater to all ages, including a baby rink with penguin skating aids for the youngest visitors, plus Saturday evening dancefloor sessions on the ice. Families will love the free toy library (ludothèque) with creative workshops, a miniature car circuit, carriage rides, and regular visits from Father Christmas in his chalet on Place du 14 Juillet. Street performers, live concerts, roving artists, and weekly themed weekend events round out a packed calendar of entertainment. All public parking lots and boulevards around the market are free of charge, making a visit easy and accessible. The market closes early at 6 pm on December 24 and 31, and is closed entirely on December 25.
