The Bonner Weihnachtsmarkt at Münsterplatz is the beating heart of Bonn's beloved inner-city Christmas market, spreading festive magic across multiple squares and streets in the city center. As the largest Christmas market in the Bonn metropolitan area, it transforms Münsterplatz, Bottlerplatz, Friedensplatz, Remigiusplatz, Vivatsgasse, Windeckstraße, and Poststraße into a sprawling winter wonderland for over 36 days each season. The Münsterplatz itself serves as the main hub, hosting the greatest concentration of stalls alongside two iconic landmarks: the towering 25-meter illuminated Christmas tree bar known as 'Der Bonner Weihnachtsbaum' and the beloved Bonner Riesenrad Ferris wheel, both visible from across the market. With more than 160 vendor stalls in total, the market offers an impressive mix of handcrafted gifts and artisan goods, with many craftspeople demonstrating their skills live for visitors to watch. Food and drink are central to the experience — the aroma of roasted almonds and mulled wine fills the air as visitors browse stalls offering organic bratwurst, flame-grilled salmon, potato pancakes, Stollen, marzipan, and much more. Glühwein and punch flow freely alongside cold beer and soft drinks. Families will appreciate the carousel and child-friendly rides, while the oversized Christmas bauble at Remigiusplatz makes for a memorable photo stop. The market also extends its festive season with the Dreikönigsmarkt on Remigiusplatz from late December into early January. Arrive via public transit for the easiest access — the market is free to enter.
