Set against the dramatic backdrop of Trier Cathedral — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and the ancient Hauptmarkt, this is Germany's oldest city at its most enchanting. The market spans the historic Hauptmarkt and the Domfreihof forecourt, where lovingly decorated wooden stalls offer artisan Christmas crafts, handmade ornaments, and regional specialties. A signature attraction found nowhere else in Germany is the Glühwein Queen, the official ambassador for the Moselle region's celebrated Winzer-Glühwein — a warming mulled wine crafted from local vineyard grapes.
