The Merco de Navid along the Paseo del Urumea is San Sebastián's flagship Christmas market, inspired by the grand Central European market tradition and stretching across one of the city's most scenic riverside promenades. Organized by the Ayuntamiento de San Sebastián and running from late November through January 6th (Epiphany), this free event transforms the Urumea riverbank and Plaza Ramón Labayen into a festive wonderland that draws both locals and visitors from across northern Spain. The market is divided into distinct zones, each with its own character: the Paseo Urumea section hosts 37 stalls brimming with typical Christmas products and crafts, while Plaza Ramón Labayen features 21 additional stalls alongside a small stage for concerts, demonstrations, and workshops. A dedicated Merco Gastro area offers 13 food-focused stalls with a covered pergola where visitors can sit and savor local delicacies. Shoppers will find an impressive range of artisan goods — from handmade jewelry and ceramics to illustrated prints, sustainable fashion, and traditional Basque products. Food lovers can indulge in warm mulled wine, artisan honey, gofres, crepes, nougat, and caramelized nuts. The market also features a spectacular 32-meter-high Ferris wheel near La Concha beach, offering panoramic views of the bay and city skyline. Open daily with morning and afternoon sessions (10:30–14:00 and 16:30–20:30), the market is free to enter and family-friendly throughout. Arrive on a weekday morning for a relaxed browse, or visit on a weekend evening to soak up the full festive atmosphere.
