Experience Merco de Navid

The Merco de Navid is San Sebastián's flagship Christmas market, organized by the City Hall through Fomento San Sebastián and inspired by the grand Central European Christmas market tradition. Stretching across two vibrant zones — the scenic Paseo del Urumea and the lively Plaza Ramón Labayen — the market transforms the heart of Donostia into a festive wonderland from late November through January 6th (Epiphany), making it one of the longest-running holiday markets in northern Spain. The market is divided into three distinct sections: the Paseo Urumea zone features 37 stalls brimming with typical Christmas products and artisan crafts; the Plaza Ramón Labayen hosts 21 stalls alongside a small stage for live concerts, demonstrations, and workshops; and the Merco Gastro area offers 13 dedicated food stalls with a covered pergola where visitors can sit and savor seasonal specialties. A separate Lur Kolektiboa artisan fair on Calle Reyes Católicos showcases local Donostiarra craftspeople. Towering above it all, the iconic Gran Noria — a 32-meter Ferris wheel with 24 cabins — offers panoramic views of the bay and the city's spectacular Christmas illuminations. Shoppers will find an impressive range of handmade jewelry, sustainable fashion, illustrated art, ceramics, natural cosmetics, wooden toys, and traditional Basque and Spanish food products. The market is free to enter and open daily, with stalls operating between 10:30–14:00 and 16:30–20:30 on standard days, and extended hours on weekends and holiday eves. Arrive on a weekday morning for a relaxed browse, or visit in the evening to enjoy the full magic of the city's dazzling Christmas light displays.
