K&K Weihnachtsmarkt Belvedere

The K&K Weihnachtsmarkt brings the Christmas season of Austria's imperial and royal era to the forecourt of the Upper Belvedere. Everything on the grounds, from the decoration and music to the huts, food, drinks and customs, follows one consistent K&K-era design, laid out along the palace grounds' historic axes. With a maximum of 35 themed huts, the market is deliberately small and easy to explore. Exhibitors offer classic Christmas market goods, traditional crafts, artisan handiwork and culinary specialities from that era and from today, with an emphasis on high-quality regional products from Vienna and the surrounding region. By day ("Imperial by Day") the programme centres on traditional music, handicrafts and customs; from 6 pm ("Imperial Modern by Night") lounge, jazz, electro swing and contemporary Viennese sounds take over. The market only uses the area in front of the Upper Belvedere, to protect the historic gardens. Getting there: tram D to Schloss Belvedere, or Quartier Belvedere (S1, S3, 1, 18, 62, D, O); Hauptbahnhof is a short walk.
