Mons Coeur en Neige - Grand-Place

Now in its 21st edition, Mons Coeur en Neige transforms the historic Grand-Place of Mons into a enchanting Christmas village each December, drawing visitors with its warm atmosphere, Alsatian regional theme, and remarkable variety of chalets. Spread across three distinct sites — the Grand-Place, Place Léopold, and Marché aux Herbes — this beloved Belgian Christmas market offers something for every visitor, from families with young children to food lovers and craft enthusiasts. At the heart of the event, the Grand-Place hosts approximately fifty traditional wooden chalets offering artisan gifts, gourmet delicacies, and a wide selection of food and drink. Highlights include the Magic Kiosk where Father and Mother Christmas greet children on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the Grand Christmas Tower serving seasonal snacks and warming drinks, and a rotating series of artisan pop-up chalets showcasing unique local creations. The square is beautifully decorated with the Forest King, a nativity scene, and festive illuminations. This year's Alsace regional theme adds colorful chalets featuring the culinary specialties of this celebrated French region. Food lovers will find an impressive range of options, from tartiflette and sauerkraut to Argentine empanadas, Japanese yakitori, Corsican charcuterie, and Belgian pralines. A dedicated Solidarity Chalet serves free soup daily from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, supported by the National Lottery. A free fairy-tale train connects all three market sites across the city center. The covered 600m² ice rink at Place Léopold remains open through early January, making Mons Coeur en Neige a festive destination well worth an extended visit.
