The Lucrezia Markt at Kohlenmarkt is one of two connected locations of Regensburg's beloved arts and crafts Christmas market, spread across the historic heart of the UNESCO World Heritage city. Running since 1982 and organized by the Förderkreis Regensburger Kunsthandwerker e.V., this market has built a decades-long reputation as a showcase for genuine, high-quality handmade goods in a medieval setting. The Kohlenmarkt location operates in tandem with the main Haidplatz site — just a 3–5 minute walk away — giving visitors a seamlessly extended market experience across two charming old-town squares. At the Kohlenmarkt, you'll find independent artisans presenting their own handcrafted work: silver and gold jewelry set with gemstones, sculptures and decorative objects in wood, metal, glass, clay, leather, and textiles, as well as handmade candles, soaps, and much more. Unlike mass-produced souvenir markets, every item here is designed and made by the vendor themselves, making it an ideal destination for finding a truly unique gift. The Kohlenmarkt stage also hosts its own live music performances throughout the market's run, with acts ranging from Irish folk and blues to acoustic pop — creating a lively, festive atmosphere independent of the Haidplatz stage. Admission is completely free, and the market is open daily from late November through December 23rd, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Plan to visit both Kohlenmarkt and Haidplatz together for the full Lucrezia experience.
