Experience Arezzo Città del Natale - Piazza Grande

Arezzo Città del Natale transforms the stunning Renaissance Piazza Grande into one of Tuscany's most atmospheric Christmas destinations, now celebrating its tenth edition under the theme 'Il Natale delle Arti' (Christmas of the Arts). Organized by Fondazione Arezzo Intour in partnership with the City of Arezzo, this beloved festival runs from mid-November through late December, with the Tyrolean Village market operating Thursdays through Sundays and daily from December 18 onward. At the heart of the Piazza Grande Christmas market stands the acclaimed Villaggio Tirolese — Italy's largest Tyrolean village — featuring 34 traditional wooden chalets where exhibitors from the Tyrol, Austria, and Germany showcase authentic handcrafted goods and seasonal specialties. The Baitine del Gusto (taste chalets) offer hearty Alpine fare including pork shank, wurstel, polenta, pretzels, and artisan beers. After dark, the piazza comes alive with the spectacular Big Lights Show, a professional videomapping projection by PlayMarche and pioneering artist Elodie Poidatz — whose credits include the Notre-Dame de Paris reopening ceremony — casting breathtaking imagery across the historic facades and Palazzo Comunale. Also housed within the elegant Palazzo della Fraternita dei Laici on Piazza Grande is the Brick House Art exhibition, a two-floor showcase of sculptures and installations built from over two million LEGO bricks, with dedicated workshops for children. The broader Arezzo Città del Natale festival extends across the city, with the illuminated Bosco delle Emozioni park, an ice skating rink, a panoramic Ferris wheel, and Santa's House at the Fortezza Medicea. Arrive at dusk to catch the light projections, which run nightly from 5:00 PM to midnight.
