Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Flemish Baroque architecture, the Arras Christmas Market transforms the Grand'Place into one of northern France's most enchanting holiday destinations, drawing over 1.7 million visitors each season. Walking through the market feels like stepping inside a giant snow globe, with thousands of illuminations reflecting off the ornate gabled facades that surround the square. The market spans more than 150 cabin stalls across the Grand'Place, Place des Héros, and adjacent streets, offering an impressive range of artisan goods and regional specialties. On the Place des Héros, a spectacular 25-meter Christmas tree anchors a Court of Lights, and a nightly projection show floods the historic Belfry in color. Father Christmas descends the Belfry on December 6th, and a dedicated Santa's Village on Place Ipswich delights younger visitors. Food lovers will find plenty to savor, from steaming mugs of mulled wine and hot chocolate to regional cheeses like Maroilles and coeurs d'Arras, freshly made Flemish waffles, pain d'épices, and oysters with champagne for a festive treat. The market runs Monday through Sunday with extended hours on weekends, and free shuttle services connect major parking areas to the city center on weekends throughout the season.
