Weihnachtswelten Lübeck - Märchenwald an der Marienkirche

Hidden among Christmas trees at the foot of the Marienkirche, the Märchenwald (fairy-tale forest) is one of the best-loved parts of the Weihnachtswelten Lübeck, especially for families. Around twenty lovingly made little houses bring well-known scenes from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales to life, and the figures have been a Christmas tradition for many Lübeck families for about fifty years. Children can ride the little railway, and the stalls beside the forest serve festive food and sweets. In 2026 the Märchenwald is open from 23 November to 30 December. It sits right next to the Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt on the same churchyard, a few steps from the main Lübecker Weihnachtsmarkt around the Rathaus.
