Weihnachtswelten Lübeck - Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt

The Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt on the Marienkirchhof (St. Mary's churchyard) is one of Lübeck's most atmospheric holiday destinations, transporting visitors back to medieval times in the shadow of one of northern Germany's most iconic Gothic brick churches. Set within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lübeck Old Town, it is part of the celebrated Weihnachtswelten Lübeck, the Christmas Worlds of the 'Christmas City of the North'. The market stands out for its distinctly historical character, with medieval craftspeople, jugglers and street performers, mead (Met) and wood-fired bread that evoke the atmosphere of centuries past. In 2026 it runs from 23 November to 23 December. Right beside it on the churchyard, the Märchenwald an der Marienkirche fairy-tale forest delights families (see its own listing), and the main Lübecker Weihnachtsmarkt around the Rathaus is only a few steps away. Arrive on foot from the main train station in about 15–20 minutes, or use the free Christmas shuttle bus on event Saturdays.
